A robotic, out-of-control Russian spaceship originally launched to deliver supplies to the International Space Station disintegrated in a fireball Thursday, ending the spacecraft’s failed mission.
The uncrewed Russian Progress vehicle burst into smithereens over the central part of Pacific Ocean at 5:04 a.m. Moscow time Friday, or 10:04 p.m. ET Thursday, according to Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos).
The Progress ship was originally expected to deliver thousands of pounds of supplies to the International Space Station, but just after its launch on April 28, the spacecraft started experiencing major problems.
