Project Jacquard: Google reinvents the wearable as stuff you actually wear

Lots of people are seeing the benefits of wearable technology now that both Android Wear and the Apple Watch have arrived in full force. From step-counting to glanceable notifications, a smartwatch can be convenient for many.

Smartwatches have a problem, though: Not everybody wants to wear one

Even fitness trackers, which are sometimes more comfortable, require you to wear something you otherwise probably wouldn't. It's no wonder many owners end up tossing them in drawers several months after use.

Google has been working on a technology that solves this wearable conundrum. Called Project Jacquard, the idea is to weave technology into the fabric of clothing itself. After all, even the most staunch opponent to wearable gadgets still wears clothes. Read more...
