USA tops Australia in Women's World Cup opener: 3 things we learned

The 2015 Women's World Cup got off to a successful start for the U.S. with a 3-1 win over Australia to take three points and first place in the fearsome Group D — also known as the "Group of Death."

Let's take a look at each U.S. goal here — and offer three lessons the Americans learned from Monday's much-anticipated match.

First, Megan Rapinoe gave the Americans a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute.
